Parts of the Computer

"Lets start off with the basics.   Take a look around you will notice several different things that go with your computer here are some of the basic parts of a computer.    Below are pictures of what each of the parts look like and a definition"

Hard Drive

This is the Hard drive.  This is the brains of the computer.  It has a CD drive to play your games or music.
Newer computers have a DVD drive that can play DVD's.   The hard drive helps all of the other computer parts like the printer work properly.  It also has connection ports so you can get on the internet.    The version of windows you have and what your hard drive looks like may vary.

Monitor

This is a monitor it displays everything your hard drive has on it.  It is like a T.V only it can't turn channels.  It can only show what your doing on the computer.  It can show your CD games or websites.  Some have color differences for Example one monitor may only have 16 colors while another has millions of colors.

Printer

This is a printer,  it prints a variety of things like pictures and papers but it can only print when you tell it to.  Some printers have fax and copiers built in them so they print when a fax comes in.  Most printers will print exactly what is on the screen.  If you drew a picture and then printed it would come out like the picture on the monitor so you can hang it up or us it for school,

Keyboard

This is what you type on.  It is like handwriting only you push buttons with the letter on it so it pops up on the screen.  it also has command buttons like Shift which capitalizes letters.  The computer keyboards look and number of buttons might be different.

"There are also different types of computers here are some of the different types of computers and parts that are not with all computers.

Laptop

It is like a hard drive, monitor and keyboard put together.  It is portable so you can take it anywhere.  It has all of the things a hard drive would have like CD and DVD drives.  It also has a monitor built in monitor and keyboard.

PDA
(Personal Data Assistant)

It is a hand held version of a computer but it doesn't have things like a CD drive or a keyboard.  It is very useful for people who are always on the go. You can plug it in to a hard drive or a Laptop and transfer data.

Scanner

This is a scanner it does the exact opposite of what a printer does. You can put a handwritten paper or a drawing and it will show up on your computer so you can save it and never lose it.
