Fun With the Desktop

When you first start up the computer you will see a picture that looks like the one below.  This is like the Control Center because you can start any program you like.  The programs on your desktop are icons called shortcuts. These makes it easier to start.   My Computer is always on the desktop of a computer in less you have Window's Xp like the desktop below.  Then it will be in the Start Menu

Start Menu
" You might see folders like me on the desktop too!!  There are also programs and folders in a menu that is called the Start Menu.   To access it simply click the button on the bottom of the screen that says Start.    Programs is the main menu that has folders for all of the things that you use like games, internet, and writing programs.  There are also folders in the start menu like My Documents that holds all of your personal files  Here is a example of what a start menu might look like."
(Note: you might not have all of these buttons on your start menu)

Taskbar

"The gray or blue band at the button of the screen. If you  have a Windows Xp you will have a blue band.   If not it will be gray." When you open a program. it will show it on the taskbar like this
(is circled in red)

When you have more then one program running you can click a program on the taskbar to switch programs.  This is great for reports!!!  The clock is also on the taskbar.
